CENTRESTAGE Raises the Curtain on a Nouveau Playhouse

Style in motion is back with youthful exuberance, vibrant expression and appreciation without borders. Welcome to CENTRESTAGE 2017 as the 2nd edition of this world-class industry event officially launched with yesterday’s CENTRESTAGE ELITES gala evening, celebrating Asia's most distinguished designers. Collecting the best and the brightest in global fashion, CENTRESTAGE presents a top-tier platform for buyers to source the latest collections from iconic labels, fashion powerhouses and emerging brands in Asia and beyond.

CENTRESTAGE proudly supports young designers in Hong Kong by providing golden opportunities to showcase their talent. Yesterday’s grand opening included the FASHIONALLY COLLECTION #10, featuring the latest SS18 menswear and womenswear collections from the following 10 emerging Hong Kong labels, presented by online fashion hub, FASHIONALLY. Featuring experts with vast industry experience, the Master Sharing Series kicked off yesterday by spotlighting star brand JUUN.J and his influence on Korean fashion and beyond. Representing Juun.J, the event featured Jean Colin, Vice President, Global Expansion Fashion Division, Samsung C&T, as she shared her perspective on the work of an Asian fashion pioneer.
What’s hot and what’s not? Launching our Trend Talk Series, Michael Leow, Asia/Pacific Sales & Marketing Head for global creative agency, Fashion Snoops, highlighted 10 macro lifestyle trends in 2018-2019 that will affect business strategy across all enterprises.

"NANHI puts strong emphasis on locally-sourced natural materials in Taiwan for our fashion collections. We are actively expanding our overseas presence through CENTRESTAGE. This is our second-year participation in the fair. We generated very positive response last year and that’s why we’re here again to promote new designsOur latest ‘The Daughter of Mountain and Sea’ collection adds unique Taiwanese elements into the design to offer some wearable and comfortable fashion. The feedback has been strong on the first day of exhibition. We have met with quite a number of buyers mainly from the Chinese mainland. A Singapore buyer also came to discuss cooperationThis fair is an international trade event attracting buyers from different places including Europe and Southeast Asia. We’re very pleased to be able to grow our business through this valuable platform."

"Pourquoi means ‘why’ in French and my designs represent an unanswered question mark. The clothes are full of creative, amusing and interesting designs, and I hope to surprise people with my pieces and capture their imagination. My pieces are popular in Japan, as they appreciate the colourful joyful designs. I have been liking it so far at CENTRESTAGE – the decoration is nice and it’s vibrant and spacious. I met a buyer from japan today, which is the right market for me since my brand is influenced by Japanese style. I brought a few select pieces from Macau to put on display and I hope to make a statement with my selection to make my booth stand out. I will be featured in the Designers’ Collection Show tomorrow and I’m looking forward to that."

"“In business for two years, Hausie is a Hong Kong-based showroom representing more than 20 international fashion brands from different places including UK, USA, Australia, Peru, Lebanon, UAE, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. We are making our debut at CENTRESTAGE this year to showcase a variety of fashion collections, jewellery and bags for 17 brands we exclusively distribute.  The feedback has been positive. So far, we have found about 20 potential customers from different markets including Galeries Lafayette from France, Aishti Group from Lebanon and multi-branded stores from the Chinese mainlandThey expressed interest in a wide range of items on offer. We will send pricing details to them for further negotiation. This fair has been well managed and we’re pleased with the results. We will consider exhibiting again."

“YFS is a leading fashion retailer in Malaysia running 138 stores under different brands and concepts across the country. I am visiting CENTRESTAGE for the first time to find new brands and collections for business expansion. This is a fascinating fair featuring a lot of creative designs and interesting brands. I have already identified several Hong Kong designer brands for cooperation. They include fashion jewellery by CIAO and casual wear for ladies by FromClothingOf. I expect to place orders worth about US$10,000 to US$30,000 each with them. The menswear collections by Hong Kong designer Angus Tsui are also appealing. We will explore collaboration to create new menswear series for the HK$1,000-HK$4,000 retail price market. We had visited Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter and Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer in previous years and the results were very positive. We have opened two WOW concept stores for premium ladies' fashion in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru this year with a USA partner we found at Hong Kong Fashion Week. The trade shows organised by HKTDC are always successful. I will visit CENTRESTAGE again.”

So far at CENTRESTAGE I’ve found two exceptional brands that I’m interested in, one in particular amongst the offerings at the Japanese stand – there are some new brands with excellent quality. I’m very impressed with CENTRESTAGE and am confident I will return. "I’m the owner of Lettie Gooch, a boutique that specialises in women’s apparel and accessories in Washington DC. I’m here to source new emerging designers. The US retail scene is evolving, so we’re focusing on more unique apparel offerings that can’t be found everywhere. We’ve had a few appointments with emerging Hong Kong designers and we’ve found some really great brands that we may be able to bring in to the shop because they produce in smaller quantities and might work with us so we can get stuff shipped to the US. I can see thought has been put into CENTRESTAGE, there is a lot of creativity. The fun social media friendly display pieces are a nice touch."

"Hyundai currently operates 15 department stores, 5 outlet stores and a duty free shop in Korea. We are also selling various products through TV home shopping and two online portals. This is our first visit to CENTRESTAGE to source new designer brands to enrich our fashion offerings. So far, I have got in touch with 6 Japanese brands for menswear, ladies’ wear, scarves and other accessories through business matching meetings. The talks have been fruitful and the brands will provide more designs as well as pricing details for further discussion. My colleague is also here exploring with some Hong Kong and Indian brands for cooperation. It will take at least three to four months to conclude deals. The size of order will be smaller for pop-up sales but bigger for longer-term cooperation of showcase in our stores. This is a well-organised fair with everything in order. HKTDC has done an excellent job."
